REQUIREMENT TO BECOMING A FELLOW OR MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF DISASTER AND SAFETY PROFESSIONALS

Education:
Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as disaster management, security management, safety engineering, public health, emergency management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Experience:
Have a minimum of five years of professional experience in disaster management, security management, safety, or a closely related field.
Demonstrate significant involvement in disaster response, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, or similar roles.

Professional Contributions:
Submit evidence of active engagement and significant contributions to the field of disaster and safety management, such as published articles, research papers, presentations at conferences, or participation in relevant projects or initiatives.
Provide a detailed portfolio highlighting professional achievements, including descriptions of specific projects or initiatives undertaken and their impact on the field.

Professional References:
Provide at least two professional references from individuals familiar with the candidate’s work in disaster, security and safety management. These references should attest to the candidate’s expertise, professionalism, and contributions to the field.

Continuing Education:
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development by participating in relevant training programs, workshops, conferences, or other educational activities related to disaster management, security management and safety protocols.

Ethical Standards:
Agree to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct, as outlined in the IADSP’s code of ethics.
Certify that the candidate has not been subject to any disciplinary actions related to professional misconduct or unethical behavior.

Honorary Doctorate Fellow (Honoris Causa) of the International Academy of Disaster and Safety Professionals (IADSP):

1. Distinguished Service to the Field:
Have a distinguished record of service and leadership in disaster management, safety engineering, public health, emergency management, or a related discipline.
Demonstrate significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge, practices, or policies in disaster and safety management on a global scale.

2. Professional Achievements:
Provide evidence of outstanding professional achievements, such as groundbreaking research, innovative practices, or significant contributions to policy development in the field of disaster and safety management.
Show evidence of exceptional leadership and impact in addressing complex challenges related to disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience.

3. International Recognition:
Be widely recognized and respected within the international community for their contributions to disaster and safety management.
Provide evidence of international collaborations, partnerships, or recognition from prestigious organizations, institutions, or governments in the field.

4. Ethical Standards and Integrity:
Demonstrate the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and commitment to serving the public good.
Certify that the candidate has not been subject to any disciplinary actions related to professional misconduct or unethical behavior.

5. Application Process:
Nomination by a current member of the International Academy of Disaster and Safety Professionals (IADSP) or the academy’s governing body.
Submission of a comprehensive nomination package, including letters of support from prominent figures in the field, a detailed curriculum vitae (CV), and any other supporting documentation deemed relevant.
Review and approval by the IADSP’s selection committee or governing body.

6. Acceptance of the Honorary Title:
Upon approval, the nominee agrees to accept the honorary title of “Honorary Doctorate Fellow (Honoris Causa)” conferred by the International Academy of Disaster and Safety Professionals.
The nominee may be invited to deliver lectures, presentations, or participate in other academic or professional activities organized by the academy.
The nominee shall be required to support any of the academy project with a minimum of N500,000 donation.
